Where harbor elegance meets quintessential comfort
Back in 2007, this place wasn't much to look at - just an old shipping warehouse collecting dust along Vancouver's waterfront. But someone saw past the rusty beams and weathered wood.
The Sanderson family had been running boats through these waters for three generations. They'd watched the harbor change, grow, and transform. When the old warehouse went up for sale, Margaret Sanderson knew exactly what it could become. She'd been sketching ideas on napkins at their family marina for years - a place where the working harbor's grit could meet genuine luxury without feeling forced or fake.
It took almost two years to get it right. We kept the original timber framing, those massive Douglas fir beams that still smell like the sea when it rains. The brick walls? Those stayed too - each one tells stories of cargo ships and early morning fishing crews. But we added floor-to-ceiling windows so you'd never miss a sunrise over the marina, custom fixtures inspired by old ship's lanterns, and yeah, every modern comfort you'd expect from a proper boutique hotel.

We don't do stuffy. Never have, probably never will. Yeah, we've got the luxury part down - Egyptian cotton sheets, rainfall showers, that whole thing. But we're not gonna make you feel like you need to whisper in the lobby.
This is a working harbor. Real people do real work here every single day. When you stay with us, you're part of that rhythm. You'll see crews fixing nets at sunrise, yacht owners hosing down their decks on Sunday mornings, and locals grabbing coffee before the ferries start running.
We've built something that respects where it came from while giving you everything you need right now. That's the whole point - luxury shouldn't feel disconnected from the place it sits. It should make you feel more connected to it.
Originally constructed in 1923 as a maritime supply warehouse. We've kept every original timber beam, all the exposed brick, and even some of the old pulley systems - now they're part of the decor. The brass fixtures? Those came from a decommissioned cargo ship.
We're not big on bragging, but these meant a lot to the team:
